Importance of W3 Standards

When the Internet first began its boom, the technologies used in design were forgiving. W3-Compliance wasn’t as necessary because there were fewer browsers, fewer users, and overall fewer technologies in use. With the burgeoning popularity of the internet, new developmental tools are created daily. With these tools come new challenges – marketing, design, cross-browser transitions, etc. All of these can be a daunting task for those web gurus who aren’t well-versed in the W3 Standards. W3 (w3schools.com) is a resource for webmasters and programmers who want the most for their viewing public.

There are numerous technologies used by programmers (ASP, PHP, and Javascript to name a few), but this article will focus solely on XHTML and CSS. W3 has a set of standards for both of these technologies, and making a website W3-compliant ensures that most all viewers will see the site exactly the same way (no matter what browser they’re using). Validation also helps with Search Engine Optimization (SEO) because clean code means easier search-engine spidering.

Cascading Style Sheets, or CSS, is a technology often used in sites with many pages to make aesthetic changes easier. The style sheet is an exterior file that runs interdependently with the HTML (or outputted HTML) of a site. The style sheet serves as a template for the entire site’s color and font schemes, while also controlling borders, sizes, and more. Being able to edit a single file, instead of 100s of changes in many files saves time and precious web design dollars. Validation is imperative to get the most out of a website. That is, a user can upload or copy-and-paste their CSS file to the W3 site, and they’ll be given a list of any errors it contains.

Another of the technologies becoming more popular is Extensible Hypertext Markup Language, or XHTML. XHTML is an extension of HTML 4.0, and, while in its infancy, has become quite prevalent. XHTML conforms to standards moreso than HTML. As such, it is more search-engine and user-friendly:

- XHTML documents conform to XML. XML Tools can double as XHTML tools.
- XHTML is an extension of HTML 4.0. It is more user-friendly and streamlined than HTML.
- XHTML is a combination of HTML and XML in that it can run scripts and applets that use both the HTML and XML DOM (Document Object Model)
- As XHTML grows, XHTML 1.0 documents will be able to interoperate among other XHTML documents making it a more browser transitional language.

To conclude, using the standards of web development lined out by the W3 is imperative for users to get the most out of a site. Often, making a webpage W3-compliant is the first step of SEO, a marketing tool to get the most out of your advertising dollar. Validation is easy, and can be completed if a user has a basic knowledge of HTML-editing and FTP (File Transfer Protocol). Using these tools, coupled with the set of W3 standards can save a lot of money and help the site’s overall functionality.

Do you need new cabinet hardware?

Choosing cabinet hardware can sometimes be difficult. This is because there are so many items to choose from that you rarely make the right decision. There are different aspects that need to be taken into consideration. We will take a look at them and give you some pointers in choosing the right cabinet hardware.

The first question you need to ask yourself is usually: “Do I need to buy new cabinet hardware?” Believe it or not, in most cases the real answer is “No”. People tend to change whenever they want something new or something becomes too old. If you can afford the expense then you should buy, if not maybe there is another solution. Based on what your current cabinet hardware is made out of you should call somebody that is really a specialist. He/she might just give you a solution that will make everything look better, even new, at a fraction of the cost new cabinet hardware might turn out to be. For instance, adding simple pieces of carved wood might make your current hardware look like antique cabinet hardware (this is not always possible and is based on different factors).

If you really need to change or simply want to buy new cabinet hardware do not go to the first shop that appears on your path. There are literally thousands of shops that are specialized on such parts. Why settle for a finger when you can have the hand? For those of you that do not like researching there is even another alternative: Internet shopping. You now have the possibility of purchasing thousands of parts right from the comfort of your chair. The package will arrive at home and will have all the documents done, including the warranty. EBay is also an alternative worth taking into consideration.

Based on the look and feel of your cabinet you could consider even more specialized shops. For instance, in some stores one may find only antique cabinet hardware. If your furniture needs that why not visit that shop instead of a general one? This principle is applied with different types of cabinet hardware so information is crucial for the buyer. Even by looking in the Yellow Pages you can see some special stores, which are specialized in unique cabinet hardware.

For individuals that can not afford special parts an alternative can be found in discount cabinet hardware or wholesale cabinet hardware. Look for sales! Just because an item is on sale does not mean that it is not popular or that it is not good. Many companies use this to promote new accessories or increase sales with already accomplished ones. Always be on the lookout and it will be quite impossible to miss a good offer when you see it. Either you are looking for decorative cabinet hardware, simple cabinet hardware or antique cabinet hardware, it is always more important to research before buying. Not only can this save money but it can also lead you to that special store that has everything you want and need.

Refinance Questions You Should Ask Yourself

“Many times, people take out a new, larger loan to pay off credit cards, automobiles or even to purchase another home,” says Norm Bour, host of the nationally syndicated U.S. radio program The Real Estate & Finance Show, and an experienced mortgage lender. “Sometimes they need the money to do home improvements or renovations.”

If, however, you want to lower your current loan payments or switch to a different type of loan, you must calculate the benefits before going the re-fi route.

“If someone is going from a fixed loan to another fixed loan, my general benchmark is to see a 1% reduction of interest rates to justify it,” says Bour, who also teaches money-management classes in Southern California. “Sometimes the borrower goes from a fixed-rate loan to an adjustable to lower his payments. Sometimes he does just the opposite-maybe to get away from interest-rate volatility. These are very personal decisions, specific to each individual client.”

You may already know-or suspect-that you will not live in your current home beyond a certain timeframe (perhaps 5 years). If this is the case, why would you even consider a 30-year loan?
“Sometimes, an adjustable-rate loan or a ‘hybrid’-say, a 5-year fixed, then converting to an adjustable-makes the most sense,” Bour says.

Do your homework before trying to qualify for a new loan. You should know:

? The approximate market value of your property, as “loan to value (LTV) is one of the primary factors that control interest rate,” Bour says.

? Your credit score, which will affect your overall ability to secure a loan, as well as the interest rates offered and the options available to you.

In certain cases, refinancing may not yield “a monetary savings, per se,” Bour says. This means there must be “compelling reasons” to secure a new loan, he emphasizes.

“A good loan officer will ask a series of questions to help the borrower identify his best option,” Bour says. The officer should:

? Assess your current monthly cash flow and potential future risks.

? Calculate your monthly savings if you were to refinance.

? Determine how long it will take you to break even.

? Fully explain the different types of loans and interest structures.

? Disclose all closing costs and “hidden” fees (origination fees, escrow, title, underwriting, interest, taxes, insurance, prepayment penalties, etc.).

? Treat you with respect and as an individual-not come up with a one-size-fits-all, cookie-cutter approach to your financial future. Find out more from our huge collection of expert mortgage and refinance collection at: Expert Mortgage Advice

Work of My Hands

The people of the middle-east have been enduring wars for thousands of years. Hear this original poem about the feelings of those who left because of war. Abraham hailed from the city of UR in ancient Iraq. Israel has seen its share of tugging for Jerusalem. Middle-eastern countries feel the tug in a different way, for the oil rich ground.

Work of My Hands©
by J. Kenneth Ezra

Oh to live as descendents of you.

The land in the Fertile Crescent grew.

Your long wavy curves are soft and split to extend.

The top flowing freely effortlessly it ends.

Scattered and dizzy like a lifetime we lost.

Referring to the past with multitudes it cost.

Lion like and lovely, with its head up high.

Your muscles stand tall as seen the bull’s- eye.

Our tongues remember the ancient text.

To clear the way for what is next.

We licked her from head to toe, oh savor every bud

Water now angered a drowning flood.

Where shall we go and who are we?

Our past lives now distant the ground never free.

Watching the warring for her precious hand

A flower of hope will flourish the land.

Take this advice from the people of seeds.

Your appetite for love may lead you to greed.

With it in hand you will hunt her down.

One day to wonder you have no crown.

To Procrastinate Or Not – That Is The Question

Sometimes I’ll even clean out the refrigerator, wardrobe, and any closet or room in the house – well they need cleaning and sorting sooner or later! If I had a dog I’d probably take it for a long walk, maybe give it a bath, clip its toenails, place ribbons in its hair – procrastinating can be fun!

The word procrastinates means to defer action, or put off (I’ll add dawdle and ‘hope it goes away’ as well). What’s interesting is the cras (adv) in procrastinator is the Latin word for tomorrow. To me this snippet of information means procrastinators have been around for a really, really, really long time! Wonder what strategies they applied back then.

When I drag my feet, and keep putting something off, at the back of my mind is a flicker of hope that someone else will step in and do for me what I’d rather not (like my accounting paperwork!).

There are many, many reasons someone procrastinates and also varying levels. What lies beneath could be a fear of failure or fear of success, have no idea how to start or finish a project, in a state of overwhelm, depression, seems pointless, not motivated, or maybe just maybe laziness.

What happens when you know there’s something you really should be doing instead of cleaning out the refrigerator again? Maybe an assignment’s due, bills are overdue, and filing needs to be done urgently because you can’t see your desk anymore. My guess is your frustration and stressometer starts rising rapidly.

Now would be a pretty good time to sit down and ask yourself some serious questions such as the ones below:

1. How can I better organise myself to get things done?

2. What’s in it for me? What are the pros and cons of procrastination?

3. What will I lose if I complete what I need to? Could be stress levels!

4. What will I gain if I complete what I need to? This could be in the form of free time, peacefulness; banish forever what you have to complete. Maybe your gain will be a special purchase – much like presenting yourself with a prize!

5. How important is this really to me? For example how important is paying your electricity bill? If you do not pay your electricity bill your power will be cut off. On the other hand you might have 3 things that need to be done first as a matter of priority.

6. Is the reason I drag my feet due to a ‘who cares’ attitude? Can I delegate this project (there’s that glimmer of hope again) to someone else?

7. Do you actually know what you need to do? Seriously, maybe the process is unclear on how to start or finish whatever it is that needs to be done.

When you’ve done that, break down what needs to be done to the smallest denominator and work your way up from there. Sometimes we think about ALL the things that need to be done which in turn overwhelms us. Start really, really small and work your way up by taking baby steps. Be in the present moment totally.

A life long habit that’s ready for change takes commitment, action, as well as time and effort.

By initially answering a few simple questions much like the ones above will help start that ball rolling towards greater clarity about what gets done and what doesn’t, and is this okay. Maybe the outcome is to work on procrastination at a much deeper level and pursue some professional help.

The ABC’s of Working Out

A healthy body is key to overall success!

I can honestly say that I have never felt better physically than I do right now. I turned 34 last week and I feel better than when I was 24! I owe most of that to a daily routine of exercise. And the best news is that it is a simple routine, one that anyone can do.

Being in better shape helps me in all areas of my life because there is a definite body-mind-spirit connection in us humans! Because of his I wanted to take some time to give you a simple, easy to remember schedule and routine to follow. This is something you can start immediately. You will notice the difference very soon!

But first, a few things:

Always consult a doctor being beginning a diet or exercise program!

To make the most of your exercise, cut back on the bad foods! Don’t let your diet undermine your exercise.

This plan assumes that you belong to a health club or have access to weights. If you don’t – invest in it – you will be glad you did!

Now, onto the plan.

First, to begin with, you should stretch out and do some sort of aerobic exercise like walking, running or stair climbing. This will get your heart going. Start slow and short and increase as you get into better shape. Most fitness experts say a person should work up to 30 minute sessions three or four time a week. Depending on your health, start with 7-10 minutes.

Day one – A is for Arms. There are a few simple exercises that you can do to get you arms in shape. Basically curls and pushdowns. Curls are for your biceps and pushdowns are for your triceps. Even 3 sets of 8 repetitions of each with a weight appropriate for your strength will be good for you and tone you up!

Day two – B is for Back and legs (I know, but I had to throw legs in there somewhere and this is how I do it myself!). There are a few basic exercises you can do for your back. One is the rowing motion. The other is for the overhead pulldown. Again, three sets of eight will be a good start. Your back is very important in the structure of the body and should be worked out regularly.

For legs you will want to do three basic exercises: The squat for your thighs, toe raises for your calves, and reverse leg extensions for your hamstrings. Yep, three sets of eight.

Day three – C is for Chest. The chest is simple. Just anything that works the bench motion (flat on your back pushing up). You can do this with either a barbell or dumbbells (no, a dumbbell is not your workout partner :) ) Again three sets of eight to start.

Day four – S is for Shoulders. Shoulders are important because if you only do the chest, which some people are want to do, you will quickly overwhelm your shoulders and they will get hurt. Working out your shoulders also makes your waist look smaller!
Two exercises here: One is a deltoid exercise (picture your thumbs under your armpits with your elbows out – like a chicken). The weight machine presses downward on your elbows as you lift.
The other is an overhead press, which can be done with either dumbbells or barbell. You sit down and push the weight over head – three sets of eight.

Day five – rest. Everybody needs a rest!

Day six – Just aerobic exercise.

Day seven – Start with day one again – arms.

Let me say that you should probably have someone at your workout facility show you how to do these if you have never done them before. Ask at the front desk and someone should be able to help you.

Remember, the body you have is the only one you will ever get so take the time to keep it in tip top shape and it will make you feel better than ever!

If you do this simple routine you will slowly but surely get your body into great shape (assuming you are watching the food intake!).

Golf Practice Isn’t Important If…

Golf practice can only help your game if your body can do what you ask of it on the range. Does that make sense? How often have you taken time out of your day to go to the range for golf practice only to leave more frustrated than when you did when you first got there?

Now come on…be honest! Every amateur golfer has experienced this more times than we can count.

Why is this?

Because our body can’t perform a mechanically sound swing when it is physically weak and tight. Picture the last time you hit a bucket of balls. Out of the whole bucket, how many swings really felt good, and the ball did what you wanted it to do?

I’ll bet you can count them on less than one hand. Or maybe I’m being harsh, and you can count them on less than 2 hands.

Either way, this is a common occurrence during a golf practice session.

Don’t get me wrong…golf practice is critical in improving your golf swing and overall game…but you first need to work on the “machine”, to be able to make the most out of your time during your golf practice.

Let’s look at the positive side!

You take my advice and start improving your golf specific strength and flexibility. It doesn’t take 2 hours a day in a gym to accomplish this. All of my programs, dvds and books incorporate affordable equipment that can be done in your home or even office.

The result?

The next time you plan a golf practice…it goes fantastic! You’re hitting more balls the way you want to. You’re enjoying your golf practice not getting frustrated. You even buy a new range card because you’re on a new high from such an awesome golf practice session.

That’s called Total Golf Performance!

You’ll soon be dominating your foursome and they’ll all want to know your “secret”.

Take this approach to your golf improvement and get a maximum return from your golf practice.

Limit vs. No Limit Texas Hold ‘em Poker Games

There are essential differences between limit hold’em and no limit hold’em besides the esthetic one that involves the presence of absence of limits.

For once, when you are playing no limit hold’em you play a more methodic game. A skilled player can easily develop and apply strategies in no limit hold’em, much easier than in limit games. If you are a beginner then no-limit is not the game for you, but limit is the perfect one. Limit protects new comers and doesn’t let them loose too much. If you are a skilled player and you encounter a beginner in a no limit poker room then you can easily take advantage of his presence and make a lot of money out of him. As they say, sky is the limit and here the sky is the beginner’s stack. Big mistakes are paid dearly in no-limit, you will just go all-in and lose all your stack. But in limit if the same mistake is made then it is not such a big deal, it just means that if you pass a few mediocre bets you will be right where you started.

In no limit hold’em you can use psychology more often and it turns out to be more reliable. This happens mostly because in no limit more money are involved and the risk of losing them all at once because of one single bad call is greater. At the end in limit hold’em all the hands are shown because of the concept that the best hand wins. But in no limit this doesn’t have to happen, you can show the hand only if you want to. In limit you can play a person, make them fold and in the end it would turn out that you had a bad hand. Now everyone knows you bluffed that person and you won’t get another opportunity to do it again. In no limit it is much easier to tell others’ game style and much harder to use psychology and to play others. You can do one trick once, but after that you’ll have to change it in to limit because the “word” will be out.

Position counts in both game types. But position count a lot more n no limit games. Even though in both games the worst position is the early position and the best one is the late position, there is a big difference on how position affects your hand. In no limit if you are in early position the chances that you get trapped are bigger. There is no risk free way to play a hand here, no matter how good it is. It all depends on the other players and the impression they have of you. You can play ruff and end up losing a lot or cautiously and end up being trapped because other can tell that you are not sure of the hand you are holding.

Evaluation of Pop-up Trade Show Displays Currently on the Market

The pop-up style expandable frame display has now been in existence for over 15 years. It is the most common portable display now on the market. The first were made of a flexible fiberglass frame, with aluminum channels bars and roll able fabric that was attached to the framework with magnets. The basic design has not changed over the years, but the options this technology offers has. The frame expands to a large size, allowing a full 10′ wide exhibit to be transported in a relatively small case. The case also contains the fabric, lights and vertical bars allowing for the fabric or photo-mural panels to be attached. Most 10′ pop-ups , in their case weigh under 90 pounds complete. There now are many manufacturers of many types, the most common being a 10′ width display described as follows:

A. Standard Grade Popup – includes lighter weight aluminum frame, individual aluminum, PVC or steel channel bars, Velcro (Frontrunner or Prelude) fabric panels and thermo molded shipping cases with wheels. They are quite common; usually incorporate two 200 watt halogen lights, and a case of some type that can be converted to a podium. They are a standard ten foot wide curved design. The price ranges for the standard curved models in a ten foot width run $995-$2995, depending on the vendor.

B. Commercial Grade Popup – includes heavy weight frame with nylon connectors, folding steel channel bars, Velcro (Frontrunner or Prelude) panels and the choice of 1 or 2 thermo molded shipping cases with wheels. Less common, as they are more expensive, they also come in different shapes, straight or curved, and in many widths. There are only a few brands that may be labeled “commercial” as the tendency of the marketplace has been to make the pop-up exhibit lighter and less expensive to own. They are more for companies that exhibit often, with different employees setting up the display each time. They can take far more abuse than the standard type pop-up found for sale everywhere on the internet. The price ranges for these types run $1795-$3495, depending on the vendor.

C. Photo Mural Grade Popup - A standard grade popup with the substitution of photomural panels instead of the Velcro fabric panels and includes everything in the standard grade pop up. These are still standard pop-ups, but have a greater appeal as they have powerful large-format graphics on the front, attracting attention. They are more expensive, because of the photo panels, but still are just as portable. The customer has to be careful here as many types of panel printing can be offered, from the most expensive DURST LAMBDA to inexpensive ink-jet processes. The prices run from $2195-$5995, depending on the vendor and the print process.

D. Fabric Mural Grade Popup - A popup curved or non-curved frame with a replaceable fabric graphic mural. The fabric mural is pre-attached to the frame, making set-up much easier than the standard pop-up with photomurals. This display offers a full photomural effect without a cumbersome set up procedure. It transports in a lightweight nylon bag, hard shipping case and lights are usually available. These weigh less than half of what standard 10′ pop-ups weigh. The graphic face usually gets wrinkled in the bag, but his can be remedied by the owner with stretching and steaming. The print process needed for these types is important also, as they are generally viewed as a lower quality graphic than what is found on standard pop-ups. This may not be the case, depending on the vendor. Prices for these pre-attached models with fabric faces run $1695-$4995, depending on the vendor and print process.

E. 3-D Style Pop-up - These are the newest entries to the pop-up market. They essentially are the fabric style pre-attached graphic pop-up only with a twist. They have the graphics attached to the framework to give a three dimensional effect, also incorporating different frame shapes, from square to round to trapezoidal. The graphics are already on the frame, making set up of these types very easy. The graphics are also easily removable/ replaceable with costs being low. They run from $995-$8995 depending on the shapes, numbers of graphics and vendors print process used.
