Ski Vacations for the Carbon Aware Skier

Countless avid skiers will shortly be searching for their skiing gear and scooting forth looking for the greatest snowfall. And beyond question the impact from your carbon footprint will be close to as far down the list of holiday to dos as a xmas tree after Christmas. Only last year, a sluggish snowfall was in the headlines and tourists were panicky about the bits of snow dissolving nearly as soon as they settled.

Ski holiday company Chalet 1802, based at the foot of Monte Bianco in Chamonix town in the Alps, is one of the first autonomous businesses to go carbon neutral and offer skiers an environmentally friendly selection while booking their ski vacations. Chalet1802 owner Amberly stated: Last season was quite a surprise with the most warm winter in 50 years in Europe. Skiing resorts for example Alpe d’Huez, Super Besse and Val Cenis has difficulty. It was temperate and the snow didnt settle so much of the early skiing season in the Alps was uneven. We resolved to become carbon negative to help preserve the skiing resort.

Amberly said: We are not trying to dictate to punters only we think it is all important to grant them the option without increasing the cost of the ski holiday. If the client book with us and vacations in our skiing chalet they may more than off set their carbon output and we soak up the added costs. Of course we still have a sauna and a hot tub – clients desire luxuriousness but not at the expense of the environs, so we viewed methods of decreasing the affect of someone driving over here for a winter holiday.”

The firm have moreover joined with organisation Climate Care, who deals with global warming by making C02 deductions on behalf of individuals and companies.
