First let’s start with definitions:

SEO: Search Engine Optimization, SFO: Search Friendly Optimization.

These two things are what most webmasters have trouble balancing. These things seem to always be on opposite ends. On one hand you have to make sure search engines can crawl your website without any problems. On the other you have to keep the site looking good to keep your visitors.

These are all based on what kind of site you plan on making. A corporate website selling shoes in the real world might focus on keeping the site looking good to visitors. And maybe pack it up with flash and all kinds of descriptive images. On the other side a site about online products, e-commerce, might cut back on the images and focus on seo. I will go into both of these just in case.

Let’s start with seo. The first thing you need if you choose seo is to meta tags. Now there many meta tags generators out there for a quicker way to make them. But I suggest like me you make them yourself according to the search engines you want your site to better perform at. In short you have to study those search engines and find out how they get their content and what meta tags they require or may find usefull. Mine is based on google so check out the source of the blog and those are the tags that google uses.

Also a site that may help you out with your seo is: http://sitesubmit.ca/ they require you to be a member to use their tools but it’s worth plus it’s free. They have many seo tips and tools. In your reaserch of the search engine don’t forget ranking. Find out what they base their search results on and how they decide which results show up first when a user queries. Like google uses google googlerank and overall page rank. But you may hav eto increase your content on a subject in order to increase your keyword density and such.

Second sfo. SFO is fairly easy to accomplish once you have the right info. Like many sites they host regular polls and surveys about what users like and their personnal opinions. It’s an effective way of knowing your audience. Once you know most of your visitors like certain kinds of things you start providing them. Therefore pleasing your users and making a successful site. But never forget about the stalistics the users don’t need to tell you. Like what browsers usually visit your site and what operatinf systems they use. And as many webmasters know firefox and internet exploer(leading browsers) have different rendering engines. So find out which most of your users use and customize your site to it. Also if the stalistics show that they have just about equal users use what we a splash page. To allow the user to show which version of the site they want to view. Two versions of your site may be hard to keep up but remember it’s worth it. In one case one of my friends had to do four different versions. And keep them updated at the same time.

But also you may have to balance the two together if you want them both. Though it is hard it may be for the best.

There’s an old saying that goes, “God takes care of babies and idiots.”

Truly this statement applies to me, because when it comes to my search engine optimization skills, I’m on the idiot side of scale. But that’s okay because idiots are loved, and can easily survive in the search engine game too.

Let me explain.

Although NONE of my 6 web sites rank in Google’s top 10 (or top 20 and 30 for that matter), and I only advertise 2 of my sites using AdWords, Google still helps me make a lot of money.

That’s probably because I went into this search engine optimization ‘thingy’ with a grain of salt. I don’t keep any secret arsenals of software tools that reverse engineer web sites to figure out why their ranking high. I haven’t read any of the latest must-have volumes on search engine optimization. (Although they’re on my to-do list when – and IF – business ever slows down.)

And still my MVP Google does its best to make me happy. And I do my best to give its searchers relevant content. But not in the way that most SEO savvy webmasters would recognize

——————————–

“It’s actually very easy to get traffic from Google if you think outside the box.”

——————————–

My strategy for getting traffic from Google is quite simple.

You see I don’t go out of my way looking for link partners. My sites are basically 1-2 page sales letters, and nobody wants to link to me, unless they’re getting paid.

Nor do I put a tremendous amount of effort into on-page optimization. I sprinkle my targeted keyphrase here and there, and I’m done with it. I write for my paying customers.

What I do is follow this process:

1) I find other established sites that already have good PageRank and adequate incoming links.

2) I make sure these sites add new content every day. Sites with frequently added content get visited by the Googlebot often… sometimes every day.

3) I then place an advertisement on these sites, promoting my actual web site. When the Googlebot pays these sites a visit, the ad itself (NOT my web page) is ranked in Google for the keyphrase I’ve used. On many occasions my ad’s have reached the #1 position in Google for my targeted keyphrase, in as little as 48 hours.

——————————–

“Where can you readily find such sites?”

——————————–

Believe it or not, a handful (literally a handful) of classified ad sites fit the description to a tee.

Backpage.com (http://www.backpage.com/) is one of them.

Backpage.com is a free classified ad service run by New Times, a publisher of alternative news weeklies. They offer classified ad listings for 14 US cities. However even if you’re not in one of their specific cities, you may still place an ad.

Certain advertisements placed through Backpage.com have reached top 10 positions in Google. The ad’s that get favorably indexed in top 10 positions normally have less competitive keywords in the title. My personal synopsis is that these are keywords that receive fewer than 3,000 searches a month, according to the Overture Search Term Suggestion Tool.

An example is ‘photo memory quilt.’

This is a low-traffic, but extremely targeted keyphrase.

If you do a search on Google for ‘photo memory quilt’ you’ll notice an ad placed on Backpage.com is featured in the #9 position. Okay, so it’s not the best advertisement in the world, but that’s irrelevant.

The point is–

* The ad got indexed in a top 10 position in Google.

* Backpage.com allows advertisers to include web site links in the advertisement. So even though this particular advertiser didn’t include his/her URL, they very well could have. This would’ve generated traffic to their site.

——————————–

“My point?

This is a cure for getting targeted traffic while waiting for your actual web site to get ranked.”

——————————–

Early February 2005 webmaster forums around the world were abuzz with groans, gripes and periodic fits of happiness.

Why?

Because Google was doing a major update (dubbed Allegra).

Sites that had ranked in the top 10 for years were being mercilessly tossed around. Other sites that hadn’t gotten any decent rank in the past were beginning to see the light. And still others didn’t notice any changes.

As for me… well my actual sites still didn’t rise much in the ranks. I’m still hovering somewhere around #50+.

But that hasn’t phased me one bit.

I look at the big picture and understand that getting traffic from Google is much more than having my site reach the top 10.

If I have 50 advertisements (similar to the one’s from Backpage.com) that are in top 10 positions, and they’re all delivering traffic from targeted keyphrases, I haven’t lost anything. All those keyphrases delivering trickles of traffic equal a flood of clicks and orders at the end of the day.

Not a bad deal for somebody who’s SEO illiterate. I guess the old saying is true… God really does take care of babies and idiots.

What is analogy between Santa clause and Google bot. Yeah you got it. Whenever you see any of them it is smile spread on your face. Your heart feels light. You can sleep well in your dreams. It makes you more attentive to your near and dear like your girl friend, children, wife and whole family by reducing tension in your mind.

The point here is how to get that accomplish. Google is the toughest hurdle to win in any SEO efforts. But it worth its salt as Google account more than third and fourth search engine do together (Yahoo is second) so we need to get listed into Google as soon as possible.

Search Engines are hungry for quality content. And they keep looking for it. For the searchers, any search engine wants to put most relevant and updated information. This forces them to love blogs. Blogs which have good content and are regularly getting update get a great ranking from search engines. For Google, suggestion is to start on blog on www.blogger.com. After creating one you put at least one link their in the blog pages. And you are done. You will see your page listed in Google within 48 hours Did you blink? Yes, you did.

You can go closer to Google by using it new service of Google personized pages. It is my yahoo kind of service and shows you your own Google page. You need a Google account to get this page. Try it here www.google.com/ig . Once you get in your own Google home page, you can see ‘create content’ on the left column. You put your blog feed address in the box after clicking the create content. It will put 3 latest posts from your blog in you homepage.

That’s it. Sit back and relax. Better go for 8 hour date with your girl friend. You are in Google now.
